Where Did Idaho's OB/GYNs Go with Dr. Edward McEachern

Dr. Edward McEachern is a practicing Idaho physician and recently published an article on Idaho’s OB/GYN exodus in JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association). This was an exploratory study that tracked the number of practicing OB/GYNs in the state from the end of 2022 to the end of 2024, noting distinction like if they left the state, where they went, if they retired, if they switched specialties, and more. It was hoped that although Idaho lost many OB/GYNs in 2023 that we clawed back and had a net increase in 2024, but Dr. McEachern found that was not the case. We continued a net decrease in practicing OB/GYNs in the state in 2024 as the population continues to rise.
