Idaho's Continued Women's Health Crisis with Susie Keller

Susie Keller is the CEO of the Idaho Medical Association and came in to speak on the recently released JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) report on the continued slide of women’s health access in Idaho. Since the Roe V Wade repeal, Idaho went from having 268 OB/GYNs in the state to losing 114 and was only able to recruit 20 to the state for a net loss of 94. There was hope that the net loss would have stopped in 2024, but the JAMA report made it painfully clear that the bleeding continues unchecked. More specifically, the report goes on to detail what happened to the 114 that left. Did they retire? Move out of state? Which states? Did they switch specialties? Idaho needs women’s healthcare professionals, and understanding why we are losing them is a crucial step to getting more of them here to take care of our mothers, wives, and daughters.
